MANOUCHEHR MOTABAR

Born in Shiraz, 1936. He completed primary and secondary school education in Iran, and during this period he was discovered painting by his teacher, Nasser Namazi, who was a student of Kamal al-Molk. Also, he has been teaching under the supervision of Sadr al-Din Shayesteh Shirazi.

In 1956, he entered the Faculty of Literature of the University of Shiraz and studied English language and literature, but his desire to continue painting, stopped him to continue his way in the field of literature. However, he returned to Tehran and graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran. After completing university studies, he travelled to the United States in 1971 to continue his education. He has passed three design courses at the New York Students' Association and received his master degree in art education at Indiana University.

 After returning to Iran, he taught drawing and painting at visual arts and art universities in Iran. His works have been exhibited in various group and solo exhibitions since 1963. He won the Medal and Diploma of Honor from the Contemporary Painters Exhibition in Monaco in 1984. In the summer of 2006, he was honoured at the Imam Ali Museum of Religious Arts.
